When Kyle Braymen booked his new client for one of his first festival appearances in Los Angeles, he expected something different.
Okay Sage, who was 18 years old at the time, was billed on the same lineup as some of the most buzz-worthy up-and-comers. Following the performance, Braymen gave Okay Sage the freedom to hang around the backstage and mingle with his rap counterparts. Instead, Okay Sage asked to go to the studio.
“That showed me very early on that he has a certain work ethic that can take him to that superstar level,” Braymen said. “That was the ‘aha’ moment.”
But Okay Sage’s revelation about his career choice was less obvious.
“I just decided one day, when I was, like, 17 that I was done not feeling okay,” he said. “At first, I thought it was a fun outlet to release in but then I started realizing I was getting bigger. I was like yeah, I could actually help people.” Okay Sage will continue to dominate the mental health niche as his brand Okay Mental perseveres through some of the darkest days our world has seen.
