Just American News got a chance to interview Camisha Williams’ in regard to her new book ‘Life’s Endings Bring New Beginnings’. We got insights into her book, her upcoming projects and much more.

Q. Welcome! How are you doing?

A. I am doing great. Thank you for the opportunity.

Q. Your new book “Life’s Endings Bring New Beginnings” is now available for pre-order. Please tell us about your amazing book.

A. Life’s Endings Bring New Beginnings is officially now available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million and on my website, camishawilliams.com. This book is near and dear to my heart, as it is loosely based on life experiences. My first husband, my son’s father died when my son was 6 years old. At that time, I couldn’t find a good book relatable to our situation geared for my son’s age that could help us with healthy discussions that we needed at that time, in regards to death, loss, grief and emotions. So here we are 16 years later and now I am an author of a book I wish I had back then.

Q. Any words of advice for aspiring children’s book writers?

A. Words of advice for aspiring children’s book writers would be to first have a plan, and have a story with a meaningful purpose. Secondly, determine if you’re going to self-publish or work with a publishing company. Thirdly, as you move through the process, remember that you are the only one who knows how you want your book, work hard and pay attention to details to get it to that level that you dreamed about and planned for. I also want to add, don’t give up, it took me 16 years but now I can say my book that was once a dream is now reality.

Q. Who is your favorite author and why?

A. Well, I don’t have a favorite because I read many books, I like to give everyone a try. I can learn so much from all.  The last good book I read was No Longer Trapped by Shelita McGowan and I currently have Finding Me by Viola Davis on my list of next up reads. I like reading books about life experiences, the challenges and how one overcomes.

Q. What’s next? Which project or book are you working on now?

A. Well, now that my book is available, I am in the promotion phase. I will be doing interviews and podcasts over the next few months and I will be looking for opportunities to participate in Book Fairs and Festivals in my community and my local surrounding area. I will also be reaching out and networking with grief organizations, grief counselors, and funeral homes, locally and nationwide. I do have a second children’s book brewing in the back of my mind, but I’m going to focus on this one for a little while longer before I move into my next book project.

Q. Finally, as we ask all our guests, do you have any closing thoughts that you would like to share with the world and our readers?

A. Yes, I do have closing thoughts to share. The purpose of this book is to help other parents of children who may have experienced a loss.  As I grieved and worked through my process, I used what I call the 3 C’s.  Choose (Don’t look so far in the future, choose to recognize a brand new day that’s given to you, a new opportunity, and take it day by day). Connect (Relationships are necessary, surround yourself with people that love you, care for you and have your best interests at heart). Communicate (Talk to others about how you’re really feeling, whether good or bad, overshare). People tend to forget about children and their feelings when losing loved ones and this book will help parents as they spend time with their children and aid in necessary dialogue about life, death, emotions, love, and hope. There is hope, and as you heal, know you can have New Beginnings.
