Louisville, KY based artist Phillip MF2C (my flo too cold) has been creating music since he was seven years old.
Talking about his childhood and his interest in music he says, “Until this day I still have written lyrics of raps that I wrote back then, along with the cassette tapes I recorded on. Taught myself how to produce beats back in the earlier years of middle school using FL Studio, and it wasn’t too long after that when I figured out to engineer and record myself. I like having creative control over everything that I do especially if it’s cutting out costs and extra people, so I also learn how to edit videos and photos using Adobe suite products too. I consider myself the jack of all trades right now. I don’t try to limit myself. I want to learn as much about this industry, so I allow myself to be teachable when it comes to mentors or constructive criticism.”
He further adds, “I want the world to hear my sound and how versatile I can be, not just in Louisville, Ky. When I was 17 or 18 that was a goal that I had in the past. But being where I’m from, and anyone can vouch for being an underground artist, the city doesn’t catch on until you already made it. It’s backward, but I want to touch as many people as I can and let my music speak to them and what emotions they may feel. I know I’m the next to make a BIG impact coming out of the city.”
When inquired about his influences and whom he admires he says, “Some people who I admire in this industry would be Wayne, Drake, Bryson Tiller, Jack Harlow & Meek Mill. When thinking about Wayne and Drake, I think about how they’re in it for the long run. Dominance, they’ve been in the game for 10+ years. I’ve learned from them that it’s a marathon & not all about who’s hot for the moment. Tiller & Jack inspires me a lot too because we’re from the same city. It’s possible to make it out here and the city is just now getting the shine it deserves. Meek Mill inspires me as well because there was a time when everyone hated him. He stayed down & remained humble. His raw faith and ambition is what got him back on top of the game now, and I see that in me.”
“I’ve opened up for Rich the Kid, Megan Thee Stallion and City Girls here at venues in Louisville. The biggest opening act who I would’ve opened up for was young boy and lil baby but it got canceled. Since the start of 2022, I’ve been putting my foot on the pedal cus this is the best time to show them what I’ve been working on since covid. This year I’m turning my dreams into my reality.”
