Michael Messiah Earl aka Michael J Foxx (Hip-Hop recording artist) from Yonkers, New York but now living in Moncton, New Brunswick Canada.
Q. At what age and how did you start in the world of music?
I started at the age of 12 but took it seriously at 18 once I was confident in my craft.
Q. What motivated you to bet on dedicating yourself professionally to music?
I dedicated myself professionally to music once I graduated music school at the University of New York. I gained my Bachelor’s degree in Music Theory and Engineering in 2012.
Q. What musical style do you feel most comfortable with? Which of the musical genres that you do not master calls your attention to try?
To be honest, I’m comfortable with all music genres but if I had to pick only one it would be Hip-Hop. I’d like to experiment with Punk-Pop mixed with Hip-Hop.
Q. What musical artists have influenced you?
Musical artists that influenced me are Nas, The LOX, Ryan Leslie, DMX, Stack Bundles, Drake, Linkin Park, and the list goes on.
Q. What do you consider to be your best album and why?
My best album to date would be “Still F.O.X.X” it was 2 years in the makings and I was extremely vulnerable on it. A lot of issue in my life was spoken on that album. I’m extremely proud of how that album came out.
Q. Which artist would you like to work with?
I’d like to work with main steam artists like J.Cole or Symba. I love the type of substance they put out there. I feel like I’m on their level and I’d love to prove myself.
Q. In the last two years you have not stopped working and publishing albums and mixtapes, where do you get all your inspiration and motivation from?
I get my inspiration and motivation from life experiences and for the most part I really enjoy making music. It’s therapeutic. Mindfulness at that. We all have a story to tell, I like to tell mine through music. Last but not least, I’ve invested a lot of time and money into my home studio so I’d rather put it to use.
About the artist: Having opened and toured with names like Wiz Khalifa, Cali Swag District, and Lloyd Banks, it’s Foxx’s time in the limelight. Formally known as Michael J Foxx, this New York-based (now living in Canada) rapper is a force to be reckoned with. Foxx has been an artist and song writer for over 15 years with an audio engineering background from NYU. He graduated with honours and went on to obtain his Bachelor’s Degree for audio recording & production. Ranging in many genres and styles of music – but still rooted in hip hop, he has released several bodies of work including seven albums, multiple mixtapes, numerous collaborations, and features. Foxx is also the founder of Moncton, New Brunswick-based indie label Just One Mic Recordings Inc. since 2019.
