If you’re into star signs and astrology but haven’t ever done your natal chart yet, then you need to get on it. We asked Moonly app what is about and what we need to consider.

At the time of your birth, the planets are lined up in the sky in a certain way. They form a unique zodiac combination with their location. If you were born an hour earlier or later, this alignment would be completely different. From the point of view of Vedic astrology, this is no coincidence. The planets reflect the karma you have acquired, the strong and weak areas of life and the basis of your personality. All this can be read using the primary astrological tool — the natal chart.

What is a Natal chart?

Your birth (or natal) chart pinpoints the precise location of the planets in the sky at the time of your birth. Why would you want to know this? Well, analysing this can reveal what truly makes you YOU. It’s a snapshot of the universe’s energy the moment you entered the world.

You’ll need to know:

  • your date of birth
  • time of birth
  • place of birth

A birth chart is made up of three components: planets (the forces that act), signs (how the planets act) and houses (in which areas of life they act upon).

Our lives are greatly influenced not only by the Moon, but by the other planets as well. Their position in the sky at the time of our birth determines our karma, our unique soul’s path, mission, and future. Deciphering the message of the stars can be done with the help of an ancient tool of Eastern astrology — the natal chart.

Olga Ramora, the founder of Moonly, talks about her experience working with the natal chart:

“When I consulted the astrologer, I saw that some planets in my chart were in an adverse position. In daily life this was reflected in a bad mental state and challenges in some areas of my life.

I began the difficult journey of self-discovery by studying Vedic astrology and understanding which planets impact our lives and in what way. Under the guidance of an experienced psychologist, I have gathered practices that helped me get out of a tough mental state and harmonize all areas of my life.”

What is the Rising sign?

The rising sign (also known as “lagna”, “the ascendant”) is the sign that is rising in the east at the time of birth. The rising sign determines innate abilities, describes character qualities and reveals possible tendencies of development in different areas.

Another important aspect of the natal chart is the ruling planet. It further reveals the talents, goals and dreams. By looking at the significance of the rising sign and the ruling planet together, one can understand the direction of life’s path and harmonize the necessary aspects.

The Natal Chart – what is this?

The natal chart shows our nature: who we have become as a result of our past incarnations, how we will show ourselves in different areas, what we will have to face in life. The three main indicators of the chart, the core of the personality is based on, are the ascendant, the Moon and the Sun. One also takes into account which house has the most planets — this sphere plays an important role in life

According to Indian philosophy, the soul is constantly reborn and lives different lives. All its actions have certain consequences and make up the karma. According to the law of karma, everything that happens to us is a result of our past actions. Karma manifests itself through thoughts, fears, desires, intentions which later develop into actions and choices which define our life.
